Animal class: Birds (Have feathers, a beak (no teeth), two legs, and two wings (some species cannot fly), have vertebrae (spine or backbone), are warm-blooded (the body temperature stays about the same temperature), lay eggs, might be related to dinosaurs, have a four-chamber heart (4 parts), most have excellent eyesight, and they range in size from the Bee hummingbird at 2.2 in (5.5 cm) to the Ostrich at 9 ft (3 m) tall) (Examples: Penguins, parrots, owls, and hawks) There are around 11,000 different species)
- Diet: Omnivore (They eat plants and meat)– Nectar, small insects, and spiders

- Size: Females 2.4 in (6 cm) tall, Males 2.2 in (5.5 cm) tall
- Species: There are about 325 species of hummingbirds

- Weight: Females 0.09 oz (2.6 g) & Males 0.07 oz (1.95 g)
Where do they live?: They live in Cuba, in the rainforest, along the coast, and in wooded areas.
- They are the world’s smallest birds.
- Their tiny wings beat up to 70 times per second, but during mating season, they can beat up to 200 times per second.
- They can fly up to 20 hours without stopping.
- Their hearts beat up to 1,200 beats per minute.
- Their eggs are also the smallest in the world and the size of a coffee bean.
- During mating season, the male’s feathers on its chin, chest, and head will turn a pinkish color to help attract a female.
- They are the only birds able to fly backward, straight up, and upside down.
